Dear State High Rowing Community
We are excited to announce the appointment of Nick Graham as the new MIC/Director of Rowing at Brisbane State High School. Nick brings a wealth of experience as a rowing coach, athlete, and strength and conditioning specialist, with a proven track record of supporting young rowers to achieve their potential. His passion for the sport, combined with his commitment to fostering teamwork, resilience, and excellence, makes him an outstanding addition to our rowing program.
Nick joins a dedicated team of staff, including Giarley To and Tom Ryals, who, along with our wonderful parent support group, contribute so much to the ongoing success of State High Rowing. We are sure you will make Nick feel very welcome as you all get to meet him next term.
In the interim, Giarley will continue to be the contact for communication and answer any questions you may have.
A little about Nick:
“I began my rowing journey with Melbourne Rowing club and have been involved in the sport for more than 10 years as both an athlete and a Level 3 coach. Over this time, I have coached crews at school and club level, with highlights including multiple state champions and National finalists’ crews, multiple head of the river winning crews.
As a coach, I am passionate about building programs that focus not only on performance, but also on teamwork, resilience, and enjoyment of the sport. I believe rowing offers young people an opportunity to develop discipline, leadership, and friendships that extend well beyond the boat shed.
I am excited to be joining Brisbane State High School as Director of Rowing and look forward to working with our athletes, coaches, families, and the broader rowing community.”
Kind regards,
Leisa McGiffin
